The Shard is one of London’s most iconic skyscrapers, and by far the largest- soaring 92 floors into the clouds. The striking skyscraper was designed by famed Italian architect Renzo Piano and is owned by the State of Qatar and the Al Thani royal family.
Situated inside The Shard is the uber-luxurious and chic Shangri-La Hotel which occupies the 34th to the 52nd floors. The hotel offers unrivalled views of the city, with all of London’s most iconic sites from Canary Wharf to Tower Bridge and Westminster being visible from the hotels restaurants and suites.
There are a myriad of exquisite restaurant and bar options from LANG which is great for coffees, teas and afternoon tea to GŎNG Bar- which is the highest bar in Western Europe and TĪNG Restaurant which offers exceptionally prepared pan-Asian cuisine using only the finest ingredients from around the world.
I dined at TĪNG restaurant and selected a Fennel Tarte Tatin which was full of flavour from the slices of orange, to the grilled onion and creamy goats cheese. Other delicious menu options include beetroot risotto with goats curd and walnuts, roasted pumpkin soup, beetroot salads and crispy duck eggs with leek. Desserts are equally full of flavour with sticky date apple pudding, salted caramel mousse and a selection of British cheeses which you can pair with the exceptionally sweet dessert wines on offer.
