The Ritz London

In 1906 the iconic The Ritz London opened it’s doors for the first time with the aim of being the ultimate luxurious destination in the world. A host of Hollywood’s most famous stars, royalty and world leaders flocked to the hotel from King Edward VII, Jackie Kennedy and Winston Churchill to President Eisenhower, the 34th U.S. President.

There is nowhere in London more representative of British luxury and decadence than The Ritz and guests will be swept into a world of opulence that make you feel like a glamorous king or queen from a bygone era.

The Michelin starred Ritz Restaurant offers high-end French-British cuisine in a baroque style room filled with chandeliers and decorated with a gilded gold ceiling. The menu includes such delights as truffle and pea soup, panache of vegetables and agnolotti pasta with caramelised onions and truffles. Deserts include a selection of British cheeses, apricot souffle and coconut mousse.

The Rivoli Bar is the perfect place if you are looking to enjoy a nice glass of chilled champagne with plenty of options to choose from with Laurent Perrier, Ruinart or Krug and cocktails including the Churchills’ Courage cocktail made up or bourbon, port and maple syrup. The bar itself resembles a gold jewellery box and is a dazzling place to celebrate a special occasion such as an engagement or anniversary.

If you are visiting London for the weekend, the hotels rooms and suites offer both comfort and pleasure with regal baroque furnishings, fireplaces and ample space. I would recommend the Junior Suite (pictured above) which offer 459sq ft of space featuring comfortable sofas and chairs, a vanity mirror and desk and large bathrooms. These suites can also be interconnected with adjacent suites for larger families or groups wanting to stay together.

The hotel has the strictest dress code in London and men are required to wear a jacket and tie when dining at the restaurant as well as formal shoes such as brogues or Oxford shoes. The Rivoli bar dress code and other areas of the hotel are less strict however smart shoes and smart attire are still a must. For ladies, smart attire such as a dress or smart jumper and skirt are required in most areas of the hotel.
